All About Melissa
Melissa H. Thompson has many roles: wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, small business owner, church leader, community advocate, non-profit volunteer. As Thompson daily lives into these roles, the overarching consideration that informs every endeavor, every conversation, every decision is how, as a Christian, her actions serve God and grow God’s Kingdom.
“I am passionate about God and the love God shows me and each of us every day,” Thompson says. “As I have matured in my relationship with God, I have become a committed student of God’s Word, eager to read and share the divinely-inspired text with others. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer and I daily see God’s Power at work in my life and in the world around me. My deepest desire is to walk on the path God has ordained for me.”
Thompson is a native of High Point, North Carolina, living, attending school and working in the area known as the Piedmont Triad for all of her life. She and her husband, Travis, and their 14-year-old son, Luke, currently make their home in Thomasville, North Carolina.
Thompson received a bachelor’s degree in English from High Point University. In 1997, she began working for Nationwide Insurance and became incorporated under the Melissa H. Thompson Agency in 2003. In March of 2018, she sold her business to follow a dream of writing a book. That book, “The Me Disease,” released in digital and print form on Amazon in March 2019, was the No. 1 New Release for Adult Christian Ministry for three consecutive weeks.
Since the release of “The Me Disease,” Thompson has been a guest blogger for the popular “Jesus Calling” website, featured in a front page article of the High Point Enterprise, been a guest on a podcast with Kathy B. and featured as a multi-week guest with her husband on “Marriage Sowell,” on the “Faith and Love” online radio network.
