As I plunge into the new year, I often leave things behind, discarding old, unnecessary items. But this year, there is one thing I don’t want to leave behind. In this new year, I want to learn to make Jesus KING of my life. Today, we are going to begin that journey.
Last week, I realized to Come and adore Jesus meant I needed to love Him, respect and worship Him. In doing so, I needed to understand what HE did for me. So, as I was sipping coffee last Sunday morning with my husband, I asked him the question, “What would it take to make Jesus the King of your life?” He never even had to think about it. He replied with blessed assuredness, “You have to do it with purpose.”
KING OF KINGS
Making Jesus King of your life in all areas of your life is a task that requires purpose. As we move into this new year, we will discover new ways and remember old ways to worship and adore the King of kings and the Lord of lords. It helps to understand what Jesus did for us and the sacrifice He made.
Revelation 5:6-14 says;
“Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
Worthy is the Lamb
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.”
When was the last time you fell down and worshipped The Lamb? Jesus can be the King of your life but you have to do it with purpose. The first step is making Jesus the King of your heart. Take a moment and listen to this song (If you can’t see it, open this message from your browser.) Purposely give your heart to Jesus today and watch as God begins working through you.
Let us pray;
God, You are good and your mercy follows us. You are worthy of all our praise because you gave us the greatest gift. You sacrificed more for us than we could ever imagine because you love us. Therefore today, I confess that I have not loved you with my whole heart. I give you my heart today. I recommit my life to you, Jesus. Be the king of my heart and the king of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
P.S. – Leave me a comment and let me know how you plan to make Jesus King of your life. Forward this message to a friend, share on Facebook and meet me back here next week as we discover Jesus is not only our King but our High Priest. -M
