I am so excited to launch into our next series on “Miracles, Miracles Everywhere.” However, as I prepared, I realized I may have rush passed the biggest miracle ever. I have to wonder how many miracles I miss every day in my haste? But there is one miracle you don’t have to wait on.
As I began writing this blog, I could not seem to move passed what we’ve already studied. I am so eager to get to John 21 and The Big Catch of Fish. But John 20 keeps drawing me back in. In my experience, I recognize God may be trying to reveal something to me. Something I might have missed.
If you remember, Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene, then his disciples and then to Thomas. Why does Jesus keep showing up for these guys? I cannot shake this question. However, it is not long before the answer becomes crystal clear.
Last week, as we looked at transforming our doubt into belief, we discovered “we are blessed to believe.” Jesus keeps appearing so they might believe completely. It is as if He is solidifying their faith. Jesus knows faith will get you farther than anything else. Then, He shows up for Thomas in a very real and intimate way, proving He is who He says He is.
As I think about my own experiences with God, they too are real and intimate. I hope yours are as well. Looking back over my own life, I see God/Jesus/Holy Spirit continuing to show up for me. I hope you see Him showing up for you too.
Why does Jesus keep showing up for us?
After Jesus‘s death, when He appeared, they often did not recognize Him. But He stayed long enough for their lightbulb to come on. As we look at Thomas, who proclaimed his recognition, we, too, can be confident Jesus will keep showing up for us until our day comes when we say, “My Lord and My God!”
This is the miracle you do not have to wait on!
Jesus needed them to believe with their whole heart that He is the Messiah, The Son of God, The Risen Lord. God needs us to believe too. Because their work was just beginning and so is ours!
Last week, we talked about some spiritual inventory questions, like “what is your purpose?” and “what is God calling you to do?” You do have a purpose and there is a reason why you are here but sometimes we forget. The choice to follow Christ is a life or death decision.
Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 10:10 says; “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Once we choose to believe Jesus is our Lord and Savior, we can begin living the life God intended for us. It is a miracle you do not have to wait on. The most encouraging thing is Jesus will keep showing up for you until you fully believe.
Jesus needs us to trust Him as our Lord and Savior. In doing so, we are given life here on this earth and beyond. By believing, we can be a light and life to someone else. We get the awesome privilege of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ!
There is a miracle in believing in Jesus. The amazing thing is you do not have to wait on the miracle. He is here and the time is now.
Let us pray;
God of miracles, thank you for sending your Son so we might have life. Help us understand what you have given us in each and every day. Forgive us when we miss the miracle. Bring us into a right relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
P.S. – If you have experienced a miracle in your life, I would love to hear from you. Don’t forget to forward this message to a friend who might need some encouragement today. Share on Facebook and let’s flood the world with God’s light and love today. -M
