What spiritual season are you in?

With the onset of autumn, I have been writing quite a bit about the changing seasons. Just as the seasons shift, so do the seasons of our lives. But what about our spiritual lives? Have you ever thought about what spiritual season you are in?

Maybe you have never thought about your spiritual life as related to a season. But scripture tells us, “there is a season for everything.” Today, let’s discover what spiritual season you are in and what you can learn from it.

Fall is considered the season of transformation. But as Christians, we should always be transforming, changing, and growing. As we move toward a deeper relationship with God, we begin to see the different spiritual seasons we encounter.

There are actually four spiritual seasons we experience in our lives. Each season has meaning and purpose. When we embrace the season that we are in spiritually, God teaches us new lessons, leading us into a deeper relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The four spiritual seasons are;

  • Growing
  • Pruning
  • Wilderness
  • Harvest

As I look back over my own life, I realize I have spent much time in each of these seasons. Although Harvest is my favorite, it was my time in the wilderness where I learned the most. It is often in our toughest seasons that God teaches us the most.

2 Peter 3:18 tells us, we are to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Christian maturity is our desire but ultimately, we long to have a deep with relationship with God. A relationship that is alive and real. One that guides us, encourages us and helps us become the people God created us to be.

Over the next four weeks, we are going to look at each of these seasons. As we determine which seasons we have been in, we will discover what lessons we learned there and which season we are in now. All of which will lead us into that deeper relationship. For now, begin reflecting on what season you are currently in.

Let us pray;

Dear Lord, thank you for the spiritual seasons of our lives. Show us the season we are in now. Teach us the lessons we need to learn. Thank you for always being with us. In Jesus Name, Amen.

P.S. Leave me a comment below and commit to the next four weeks. Forward this message to a friend and share it on Facebook. Don’t forget to tag me in it. Until next time, what spiritual season are you in and what lesson is God trying to teach you? -M
