I dream big dreams. However, it has not always been that way.
Some years back, I had this man randomly approach me and say, “God wants you to know, it is okay to dream big dreams.” The statement energized me then and it still energizes me now. God needed me to know that it is okay to dream. Because, “nothing is impossible for God.”
God wants you to dream big dreams too.
Sometimes, we are afraid to dream because of the fear of failure or that we might look foolish. But wasn’t Christ the most foolish of us all? Who sacrifices everything?
So where do these dreams come from?
Joel 2:28 reads;
“I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.”
God gives us our dreams. They come straight from the Spirit of God. Which means, if they come from God, then God will equip us to fulfill them.
Here are some questions to ask yourself;
- What dreams do I dream?
- Are there thoughts that excite and energize me?
- If I wrote down some of my dreams, what would happen?
- Is there one thing I could do today to move in the direction of my dreams?
What dreams does God want you to dream?
I do have dreams, and I believe God has given them to me. If God has given them to me, then God will help me fulfill these dreams. By not trying, I am not trusting God.
Once upon a time, I had this dream of writing a book. In hindsight, I now know God gave me that dream and helped me fulfill it. Now, I dream of writing a second, third and fourth book. I dream of helping other people have a deeper relationship with God. And, I have a deep desire to help my community.
I have all sorts of dreams. I want to leave this place a little bit better than the way I found it. God believes in me enough to trust these dreams with me. I owe it to God to try to make these dreams a reality.
So, what dreams do you dream? What excites you and makes you feel alive? If God said to you, “It is okay to dream big dreams,” what dreams would you dream? Write it down and think about what one step you can do to make it a reality?
Let us pray,
God of all our hopes and dreams, create in us a heart full of everything you have for us. Increase our belief and our imaginations. Help us to understand that nothing is impossible for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
