Valentine’s Day might be over, but I’m not ready to move on yet. For me, February represents all things love, which naturally reminds me of God. God is love and we have been created from this amazing love. So today, let’s dive a little deeper into this love thing, and see if we can’t make it a year round affair.
A friend of mine sent me a Valentine’s Day card this year. As I read the words, I recognized the hand writing as my own. This was a card I had sent her in years past. She recycled it and I plan to do the same. That is how God’s love is! He sends it out for us to receive, enjoy and even cherish. Then, we, in response, send it back out into the world.
Round and round it goes.
Inside that special card was a cute little reminder of God’s love with scriptures attached.
Be Mine:
John 3:16; For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
All Mine:
John 10:27-30; My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
True Love:
Jeremiah 31:3; “I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
Love Me:
Luke 10:27; “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”
I’m Sure:
John 14:1-3; “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Sweet Talk:
Psalm 119:103; How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Be Good:
John 14:15; “If you love me, keep my commands.
Fax Me:
Jeremiah 33:3; ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
God has an everlasting LOVE for you.
There is no greater gift than the Love of God. God expressed His love for us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus showed us how to have an authentic relationship with God. We were created to have this relationship. But if we do not have it, we are left with a gaping hole inside our souls.
Embracing this love should be our primary focus. Then we are able to share it with others. Without it, every other relationship is incomplete. But with it, we are made whole. We can love ourselves and others the way God intended.
Go back and reread the scriptures above. Discover that love God has just for you. Begin reading the Bible in an attempt to strengthen your relationship with God. This is how we get to know God. Start talking to God as if speaking with an old friend.
Relationships take time. It’s hard to know someone if you hardly ever talk to them.
Your challenge for today, read your Bible and spend time talking to God. Then, stop talking and listen to what God has to say.
God loves you so much. If you are struggling in your own relationships, ask God what to do. Tell God how you feel and then listen. You might be amazed at what God says to you.
Love never fails.
Make this song your intro into the scriptures and your prayer for the day. Sit with it and then sit with God. Love is the greatest gift God ever gave us. Will you receive it today?
